From the Pastor’s Desk
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7
This verse has been our anchor as we walk through our current sermon series, An- chored: Secure in a Shifting Culture. As we study 1 Peter together, we are re-
minded that though the world’s values and “truths” may shift with the times, God’s Word remains firm and unchanging. Like Peter’s encouragement to the early church, we too are called to stand strong and remain anchored in Christ no matter how fierce the cultural currents may become.
It’s hard to believe how quickly summer has passed. My father used to tell me, “The days go by slow, but the years go by fast.” This summer has certainly prov- en that true. Scripture also reminds us that life is “a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away” (James 4:14). Because our days are so fleeting, it is important that we use them well — investing our time, energy, and hearts into what matters most: our relationship with Christ and our fellowship with one an- other.
This summer has been rich with blessings and memories. We had an amazing Vacation Bible School where children heard the Gospel and seeds of faith were planted. We were encouraged by the visit of missionary John Fulks, a former youth pastor at MSBC, who reminded us of the importance of global missions.
Our youth and adults had unforgettable experiences at Camp Cowen. The youth also made lasting memories at their Back-to-School swimming party, and even a trip to Kings Island. The church movie night was a huge success with dozens at- tending, and the church picnic brought laughter, fellowship, and joy. It’s always fun to see everyone at the County fair, this year we shared the love of Christ with
our community at the “right to life” booth. Each of these events reflected the truth of 1 Peter 4:10, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
As we look ahead to fall, excitement is already in the air. We are preparing for our weekend Fall Retreat at Parchment Valley, where we will grow together in faith and community. Our 4th annual “Bring a Friend Sunday” will be another opportunity to invite others to hear the Good News and experience the love of Christ. And of course, our Fall Revival will be a special time of renewal as we seek God’s Spirit to refresh our hearts and guide us forward.
Church family, let us remain anchored. The storms of culture and the shifting sands of worldly ideas may rage around us, but God’s Word stands forever (1 Pe- ter 1:25). Together, let’s stay faithful, stay engaged, and continue to build a church that shines the light of Christ in our community.
With joy in Christ,
Pastor Jeff
